The video announcement

Watch it arrive.

The suite’s video, as it arrives in the family chat — a sample photo and sample words throughout. In the one you send, your family’s photo and words take their place.

Everybody, in one place, on purpose — maybe for the first time in years.

A family reunion is the one event a family throws for no reason except each other. It takes a year to plan and a generation to mean something. This pack holds the whole arc: the announcement that starts the saving and the planning, the invitation with every detail straight, a card for the family who can't travel, the thank-you after, and a keepsake that does double duty — this year's page of the family history itself.

Names and branches, written once, spelled right. The heart of this pack is its details sheet: not just the date, but the family — every branch named the way your family names them ("Grandma Rose's line," "the Chicago branch," "the cousins who came home"), every elder's name letter by letter, every branch's contact written once. Reunion cards fail in one way above all others: a name wrong on the keepsake a family keeps for fifty years. This pack is engineered against that day.

Every generation, every shape, one family. Reunions are where the family shows its whole truth: elders and newborns, branches that stayed and branches that scattered, blended and adoptive and chosen kin, family by marriage and family by love, the ones joining by video from another country because the trip isn't possible this year. The cards hold all of it without ranking any of it — the far-away card is a place of honor, not a consolation: their faces on the screen during the family photo, by plan, on time.

A word about why this gathering carries weight. Family reunions hold a particular place in Black American family life: after emancipation, freed families searched — through newspaper ads, letters, and word of mouth — for kin who had been separated and sold away, and the reunion grew from that searching into one of the great family institutions (documented by the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture). Many families of every background carry their own versions of that story — migrations, wars, borders, decades. This pack doesn't borrow any family's history as decoration. It simply builds the keepsake as if the gathering matters that much — because for many families, it does.

The ones who aren't here. Most reunions hold a moment for the family lost since the last gathering. The keepsake carries that moment as a bracketed, family-written field — names, in the family's own words — held to the same care standard as our memorial work: quiet, plain, never scripted.

The details sheet

Write it once. Check it here. Never from memory.

Every name and date goes on this sheet first, in letter boxes, with the weekday checked against the date — before a single card is built. Precision is a form of love, so we made it part of the suite.

Questions, answered plainly

When should we send the announcement?

As early as your family plans — reunions ask a lot of people (travel days, budgets, vacation time), and a year out is normal for the big ones. The announcement card is the save-the-date; the invitation follows when the details firm up.

How does the video call actually work for family who can't travel?

The far-away card is the invitation to be there by screen: it carries the gathering times in both time zones and names the moments that matter most — above all the family photo — so far-away family are in the picture by plan, at a set time, not remembered afterward. Your family's video platform and link are written once on the details sheet and pasted in.

Our family is complicated — blended branches, different names, chosen kin. Will this fit?

Yes — that's the design case, not an edge case. Branches are named the way your family names them, in your words; nothing assumes one surname, one structure, or one kind of kinship. The details sheet records the family you actually have.

Can the keepsake stand with keepsakes from past reunions?

That's exactly what it's for. Each year's page carries the same fields — who gathered, who was added, who is honored — so the pages line up into the family's running history. Print one for the archive and one for the Elders.

Is this pack tied to one heritage or tradition?

No. The listing names the documented history of the reunion in Black American family life because it is true and it matters — and the pack itself is built for every family that gathers: no tradition is assumed, borrowed, or decorated. (If your gathering is a named holiday reunion, the Holiday Family Togetherness packs are its close cousins; this is the year-round one.)

Is anything mailed to me?
